You need answers and you need help and I am here to give them to you free.
The first thing you need to do is call there loss mitigation department that handles all loan modifications and workouts for borrowers that are in collections or default. This can be intimidating and frustrating. Most people give up after a few calls and that’s the last thing you should do. You need to be relentless in saving your home and your financial situations. Don’t give up and fight back.
Remember you are dealing with employees of Ameriquest and AMC and unfortunately many may not care about you or your situation. If you feel that the person handling your case does not care then be nice and kindly ask for someone else to speak with or a supervisor. I know it’s hard but being nice will get you further then telling the bonehead off on the other line. Bit the bullet and kill them with kindness. They are the gate keepers to what it is your trying to do. SAVE YOUR HOME AND STOP FORECLOSURE!

When you get off the phone you will need to draw up a hardship letter and don’t over promiose or over inflate income or future income. Be realistic in your letter because this is your last shot to save your home. If you need help then just ask me.
Remember their job is to help people facing foreclosure with Ameriquest and also to get the most amount of money form you as possible. Your job is to negotiate an affordable plan and also hang on to as much money as you can, so you’re not in a similar situation again.

FYI I have been doing some research on Countrywide and although I can’t recall the name of the company, one of their divisions is a foreclosure/REO management company. So they may literally be profiting instead of losing by letting the folks go into foreclosure. Even if there isn’t equity, they have an inside way to handle and move the properties. Interestingly they just bought the Fairway Independent Mortgage company in the small town I live in, after having their (Fairway’s) brokers push their option-ARM products down the throats of unsuspecting borrowers for the last couple of years.
Thanks for the info! All lenders have a division for REO management. They really do not profit but I’m sure there is something accounting loophole where their loss isn’t what they make it seem to be. Option ARM’s are the worst loan for anyone. The only good those loans are for is loan officers because they get paid big on them in the form of rebates.
I agree about Countrywide HOPE department. I am going through a separation and prior to that my husband took over paying the mortgage. We are two months behind. I have taken over making payments but I am short on Sept. payment. I called the HOPE department to see is there anything I could do to catch up because I need my home. I have a son and I am 5 months pregnant. The first time I called the man was so rude and just didn’t seem to care. The second time it was a different man but he was also rude. He asked me why did the mortgage get behind last June 2006. I tried to explain that my husband took over paying the bills but if they checked our records prior to June 2006 when I was making the payments our mortgage was never late. The man didn’t seem to care. He kept asking me but why and how did he get behind. I didn’t understand what answer he wanted from me. I told him that it was just too many obligations for him to handle that still was not good enough. Finally, after 30 mins of him drilling me I told him as I was in tears I will call back. I need this loan modification but I don’t understand what information they need or what they want me to say. Someone please help me.
I’m sorry to hear about your situation in regards to trying to get a loan modification with Countrywide. It’s times like these that makes me get so pissed off at them for the way they are treating people who reach out for help. There are some good people in these departments but they need to get their acts together and operate them like they would if you were applying for a loan .
I bet you get royal treatment there from Countrywide. Call me if you still nee help. I’ll see what I can do.

I have been asking countrywide for help also and all that i get is please submit via fax you par stubs, income tax return and a letter why i have fallen behind, i have an ARM and my payment went up 1000 dollars i am 4 months behind and all that i get is a letter saying that the request was denied and that it seems that i can not afford the payment increase ???? daaa that is why i need a modification
Tell me about it. It’s like they gave you the darn loan in the first place and now that you need help, you don’t qualify and can’t afford the loan that they SOLD you.. Unfrickenbelieveable.
Please tell me more about this and Countrywide? So your payments went up and you can’t afford it now? Did your income go down? What cause you to be late?

yes my income went down but most important is that my paymnet went up 1000 dollars, my income went down in Nov 06 but I was still able to make my payments untill my payment went up in june 07 then I could not make the paymen, I tried contacting country wide several times back in march, but to no abail they said that I had to mised 3 payments before they could look into it, so I am still waiting for them to modify my payment?? actually I talked to them again today and they said that they would contact me in 3 to 4 weeks

I refinanced with Town & Country which was named in the Ameriquest Settlement, (of which I was a recipient) as a division or part of Ameriquest. Does anyone out there know if Ameriquest is working with people on T&C Loan’s.
I have no idea but I will research this for you. Are they servicing T & C’s loans? What does your mortgage statement say?
I’ve been a Countrywide customer for 3 years, have a credit score over 700, have no dings on my credit, never been late making any payment including my mortgage payment, and I have been trying to get help from CW to save my home and credit score and they tell me they can’t help me–even though they have announced over the radio they are helping their customers. Sounds good, but it doesn’t work. One of their representatives from their Hope Department (Workout Department) left me a message over a week ago and I’ve tried to reach her but have been unsuccessful. She never called back either. CW’s customer service system leaves much to be desired. I have been transferred, re-transferred, hung up on, put on hold over and over. Yesterday, I was finally told a message was given to this person by a “runner” and the person would call me within 30 minutes; then was told it would be within an hour. Never did hear from this person. Yesterday, I called at least 10 times. CW’s system put me on hold. After waiting 10+ minutes, it automatically hung up. I called over and over and the system did the same thing. Even used my cell phone and office phone at the same time just trying to reach someone but didn’t get any help. Yesterday, I called an Arizona rep and asked–(tried Arizona since no help in Calif.) why try to apply rules to the value of my home that you know won’t work in this market? My beginning with CW was tasteless. The rep that assisted me 3 years ago lied to me–when he plugged me into a 3 year prepayment penalty, he described it as one that would not hinder me from getting a refinance because “It is what you call a ’soft prepay’ and you don’t have to worry–I will go to bat for you.” Nine months later I tried to refinance and the rep was not around. Neither was his supervisor. I was stuck. My credit score then was 770+. He lied again when he told me that my minimum payment was $1400/mo. and it turned out at the closing, I was informed my min. payment was roughly $1800.00/mo. Calling CW’s office confirmed this payment amount. I had given up my apartment and with no place to go, I proceeded with the loan. This same CW rep. also told me that my loan would fund after the first day of Oct. to ensure a Dec. 1 payment date. When the escrow officer said my first payment was due Nov. 1, I told her that she must be mistaken. Come to find out, CW funded my loan the last week of September. Again, we called this rep’s supervisor and he said d if my loan funded at this time with another company, I would have to pay them on Nov. 1st. Because I was misinformed, I told him Countrywide ought to eat that first payment. After strained negotiating, CW did eat it. I tried several times to plead my case about the unscrupulous behavior of their rep–even asked CW to meet me half way during the 3 year “soft” prepay penalty and was told NO. I explained that I trusted their rep and didn’t realize I was being misled. Even now they won’t help.
The reason why you cannot get thru to anyone at Countrywide is that they have downsized. All the negotiator’s except for supervisors have had their voicemail’s re-routed because their foreclosure department is so backlogged. I submitted a short sale package back in July and still am getting the run-around. Only have about 36 days left until my redemption period expires. So, this crap on TV is alot of “fluff” to try and keep Countrywide looking as though they are assisting borrower’s when they really are not!!

I used to write long blogs on sites like these about Countrywide, then I just stopped. We can all write blogs telling our stories but nothing will ever happen. “If” they ever get caught and i mean if, it will be too late for thousands of people. so why bother? Im trying to sell my house via short sale and you guessed it, same story as everyone else, no help from cw. Cant get them to answer the phone or call you back. Its all about sounding good, getting stock prices up, thats it. They are not helping people and anyone with the power to stop them will not step up and do it. Who are we? we cant do a thing about it. We can get mad, write blogs, call them every hour, try to sell our home short and a number of other things. It wont work guys and gals. Im too the point to where I would just rather tear the walls out of my house let animals live in it and move out. Let them have a beat up piece of sh&%t property that will cost more to fix and try to sell themselves when they should of accepted the short sale offer. I would rather do that than wait months to be told “no deal” I could be working on re building my credit rather than screwing with these guys. Its bad that I say that but its getting out of hand. They sit at work acting like gods ruling the world and we are there ponds. They have us by the throat and no one with the power to do something will. Wait…. people have asked to see paper work…. WOW, it doesnt take much to make a letter look good. They should really look into the company, talk to home owners, look at home onwers paper work and record homeowers conversations. It wont happen. My credit score was in the mid 700’s when I bought my house. The loan was sold to CW and three years later my credit score is in the low 600’s. they screw up your escrow by not doing escrow analysis’s right, three years later you have a negative balance and they want it back in months. They raise your payment. weather there fault or your own you will pay for it plus interest. Try to sell your house you will pay for it too. You cant win with CW, they wont let you and no one will put a stop to it. I do have faith in God and hope he will intervien. I wish all of you the best, I hope I can get away as well.
Brandon, I understand your frustation, believe me. It is sad and ridiculous at the same time, isn’t it. It makes you mad as hell and extremely depressed, especially since you’re reading everyone else with the same story.
I’m in load modification with CW and because of the stories of people on here, I’m actually AFRAID to call them — I don’t want to hear the BS.
But you know, I was watching a program yesterday about the doc who performed surgery on Dondre West — you might have heard it in the news, anyway she’s Kanye West’s (a musical artist’s) mother and she died.
In this program four other people came on to talk about how the same doctor had literally butchered them. One woman had a scar an inch wide from a tummy tuck he performed on her. She said after the surgery the stitches literally came undone and the scar was oozing pus. She never reported it. She said at one session when she was complaining about the pain, he told her he was dying.
Another patient had a botched up breast aug. and when she went to get it fixed seven years later guess what they found? A sponge he’d left in her. It had been in there for seven years. She said it was smoking and the smell was horrible. She said even the nurses were crying.
Another patient went to have excess skin removed at his location in a strip mall. She has excessive scarring all over her body, puncture holes.
The point is this. The doc. wasn’t even board certified and here is what I got from the story.
If everyone he’d ever hurt had screamed bloody murder and bitched and moaned, eventually someone who cared and mattered would have heard and that doctor would have not been allowed to practice, and this woman, Dondre West, would not have died.
So I think blogs like this are useful, and the more people who complain and voice their stories, the more our collective voices have a chance of being heard. There is strength in numbers, I believe, but more importantly, knowledge is power. We can all learn from each other.
I hope you get through this ordeal with CW and that you can come back and share you success story with us. Maybe not all of us will be able to do that, but I know for a fact that some of us will. Let’s hope you’re one in the number!

I actually got a loan modification from CW. The payments were $23 higher than they were before and it will be fixed for five years! Wow, they really screwed me. Before my ARM adjusted I was paying $1800, after my ARM adjusted I was paying $2453. Now I have to pay $2476. I going to hire that Attorney Marshall E. Rosenbach. He charges $2000. His initial retainer fee is only $500. He’s in Beverly Hills, CA (310) 860-4764. He can’t promise me anything but he will make CW go through all of their loan docs to make sure there wasn’t any preditory lending. If there is I could get back $2000 for each mistake made.
We came across just about all of the above situations with countrywide. We have been trying to work with them since Nov. We had a dramatic loss of income new we were going to become behind. We were already living paycheck to paycheck, cutting back on a lot of things. We just called today, and we are back to where we were then. I’m surprised they have not done anything with out home yet, waiting each day for them to slap that sticker. We asked them from the beginning if they could lower our payments. They told us they can not do anything until we are two months behind. Called again, now they said there is nothing they can do except add the late payments to our existing pay(one that we said we can not afford now) so now instead of a $2300/month mortgage, we now have a $2700/month mortgage. Wow, that really would help us now.
I hear the same things on tv, read them in the newspapers, and get letters from them offering ways in which they could help. You call them (and when you can get in touch with them) they say, no we can not do this or that. We are now 5 months past due and they said to fax the info. again, to them, but the only thing they could probably do is add 5 months of payments over the next so many months on top of our payment we have now. Our interest rate is only fixed until Oct. right now we are at 8.65%. We talked to a couple of other banks and they said they can get us a loan with a much lower interest rate (would save at least $400mth.), but we need to get current. My husband told countrywide that and asked if there is anything they could do to work with us to show we are current so they could get rid of us. They will get their total amount with interest paid to them and it’s one less home they have on their hands (the ones they say they do not want). They said there is nothing they can do. My husband told them if we go into foreclosure, he will rip off our new siding, windows, and leave a shell. They really will lose out. The girl went quiet.
They call you in the middle of the day, while you’re at work, leave a message. When you call back you get disconnected, or get a machine and you then leave a message. One time my husband called and could not get in touch with the person who called us, so someone else took care of us (she was actually was really nice). She took all the info and said they would get back to us in 3-4 weeks. Get a letter saying we were denied, because we did not call them back. Called them to explain, they said we can not help you, you have to talk to the person that has left previous messages. We said what about the girl that took our info, they said no you need to talk to this other girl. Can not receive calls at work, asked them if they could call after a certain time. They call back the next day, in the middle of the day, AGAIN. They do not want to help.
It’s not like we are letting it go and ignoring the issue, we have been trying to offer to give them money. They will not take it because, “IT WILL NOT GO WHERE IT SHOULD GO.” I am just fed up with them. We have a little 3 year old, and have to wonder every day whether or not she will have a home to live in.
Is it possible to start a “CLASS ACTION” SUIT? If so, how do you go about doing it. It’s one thing if you are ignoring the problem, but it’s another when you are trying to work something out, but they will not work with you. Things happen! This does not seem legal, but it seem like these companies can get away with anything they want. Screw the consumers. If it wasn’t for us, they wouldn’t be in business.
Oh my God, I see myself in every blog, my issue was the Reps that took my numerous calls , processed the same update information exhausting my lunch hour since I’m in EST time zone and can never speak to my assigned mediator, Latisha Jackson?/ each week for three months faithfully and proactively asked where the modification application process was, is anything needed, No, Ms Foreman it is now in management review, don’t make a payment your account has been flagged, and recognized so nothing else legal would happen during the modification attempt. I have phone records as documentation of my attempts and of course the names of consultants that would of course mysterically would be no longer be employed there in the event worse comes to worse. Today a young lady name Kelly at extension 2944 said to me ” I would never have advised not to make your payment” My heart went to my stomach, How could they
be so cruel, at this rate we all will be living in cardboard boxes.

I could be you and vice versa. Your story mirrors mine so well, that I don’t even need to type another word. I just left a voicemail for the negotiator’s supervisor. I am demanding they call me back. We have never spoke to our negotiator but have left NUMEROUS messages for her to call me back. WE received our modification back yesterday and we are paying more than we were before AND that does not include escrow. I was told by 4 different reps that we should NOT pay our February or March payment, and a rep today told me that both of those months have now gone against our credit – which is exactly what I didn’t want to happen. Matter of fact, if I never would have begun this modification process, both of my payments would have been on time, regardless of what I had to do to make that happen. The request for modification was solely to try and head things off before I couldn’t make a payment because things have gotten so tight for us since they jacked our rate up. I have been lied to continuously and Countrywide is ruining my life. I don’t know what to do or where to turn.

My night mare has a twist, I received the letter of exceleration
and when I called, I was told it was due to the fact that was a different department and they have different procedures and policy adherence that’s why you were notified…Left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, Mind you, there are legal fees assoiciated with the now due balance or else notification and I was told that making a payment since the start of the process would indicate you are able to make your payments, My sixteen year granddaughter has to work now.
The Rep was so abrupt and inatentive, I invisioned her texting some one while I’m pleading my heart out to speak with management or any mediator.

My husband and I started our negotiation process in November 2007 and it is now April 2008. At first I called every day I would wait for ten minutes then get transfered at least four times after that and then eventually hung up on. I actually talked to my negotiator once, she said she needed our pay stubbs for the past four months and then she could send our information to her manager to be reviewed and to give her a call in a couple of days. I gave her a call and that was three months ago. I leave messages for her when I don’t get hung up on and she never calls back. I make sure that I call to update my information…because that seems to be their catch. “If you don’t update your information we can’t help you”….I don’t think they have any intention of helping us because we have not been late on our payments. I don’t know what to do. Our payments will eventually go up.
I’m wondering if there is 100% financing anywhere. We have good credit and the houses are priced really low now. Maybe if we could get another house for less with a 30 year fixed the payments would be less and we could say that we are going to rent our curent townhome out but really walk on the property after we aquire the other property. What do you think about that?

I’m a single parent and Countrywide customer of 6 six years.
I lost my job and fell behind on my payments.
I recently accepted a job paying less money, then what I earned when I received my intial loan.
In order to prevent foreclosure, I paid the past due amounts. Excluding the late fees. (I have over $700 in late fees)
I was told by the workout/hope department that the late fees would continue to accumulate, if not paid. The option given was to increase my monthly pmt $459, over the next four months.
Now, I’m risking my utility pmts, and having to go to food banks to feed my children. In order to make the arragement.
What kind of workout/hope is that?
My wife and I had always paid early and until March 2008 we had never missed a mortgage payment. We are both employed by the same company and they recently filed bankruptcy so our savings account only went so far. Unfortunately it seems CW is very consistent! I have been dealing with them for over 4 months trying to refinance or attempt to reduce my prepayment penalty(which is governed by investors)and of course as you have all encountered it is like the twilight zone. Call after call they bully you then give you false hope while digging for information or a possible commitment from you(we need to update your information or we can’t help line). I am done tomorrow I will be contacting the attorney general, my local HUD dept. and my congress woman. I am tired they will not control my life from now on. I am also going to fax all of these letters and as many letters as I can find about these crooks to the attorney general, HUD and my congress woman then, I will fax it to CW maybe one day they will help.

I GOT BACK ON MY FEET STARTED WORKING OVERTIME AND TRIED TO MAKE A PAYMENT 2-2008. IT WAS TAKEN OVER THE PHONE AND A CONFIRMATION NUMBER WAS GIVEN TO ME. WELL MARCH COMES AND I RECEIVE A LETTER SAYING WE ARE IN SERIOUS TROUBLE MY CREDIT IS RUNIED BECAUSE OF THE LATE PAYMENTS AND MY HOUSE IS CLOSE TO FORECLOSURE! I AM TOLD BY ANOTHER REP TO FILE WITH THE HOPE DEPT BLAH, BLAH YOU KNOW THE ROUTINE. I FAX ALL OF THE DOCUMENTS WITH MY HARDSHIP LETTER AND WAIT 30 DAYS. I CALL AT LEAST EVERY WEEK AND AM TOLD NOT TO MAKE ANOTHER PAYMENT UNTIL I HEAR FROM SOMEONE. LAST MONTH I GET A LETTER OF DENIAL NO EXPLANANTION MIND YOU. I REAPPLY AGAIN ON THE ADVISE OF ANOTHER REP, AND I CONTIMUE TO CALL EVERY DAY NOW. WHEN I SPEAK TO SOMEONE AFTER 40-50 MINUTES OF HOLDING, TRANSFERRING ME, HANGING UP ON ME ETC, I AM TOLD AGAIN DO NOT MAKE ANYMORE PAYMENTS UNTIL THE HOPE DEPT CONTACTS ME. JESUS I AM TERRIFIED THAT I AM GOING TO GET A FORECLOSURE NOTICE AND HAVE TO GIVE UP MY HOME WITH 2 CHILDREN, AND A HOUSE I HAVE LIVED IN FOR THE LAST 17 YEARS!!
