I am in the exact same boat as Kimberly.

I have been going around and around with Chase for over 2 years. I have faxed them requested information 5 times. Initially I was told we did not make enough to qualify for any sort of modification. Then we were allowed to continue with the same monthly payments we couldn't afford in the first place. Then we got a forbearance, but had to pay 1500.00 up front.
Then our payments went back up to an unaffordable amount which I have been begging and borrowing to meet because I was told that once the "modification" is approved we could refinance for a lower payment amount.

In the meanwhile, I've not received statements from Chase. I have no idea where my payments were applied. Never got a 1099 for any interest paid. Have been paying for homeowners insurance, although Chase claims that they have also been paying for the insurance out of an escrow account which I wasn't even aware existed, and because I don't receive statements, have no idea how it is being funded.

Two weeks ago I was told our house was going to be up for sheriff's auction on March 17, 2010. Interestingly enough there was never a court case filed for this "sale". I did receive an "acceleration of foreclosure" letter yesterday.

Today I was told that our modification had been rejected because we make too much money and that the decision for rejection was made on March 22,2010. The letter was dated March 17th.

The employees at Chase are apparently illiterate, unable to read notes on customer accounts, yet they can predict the future and alter the past. They are so incredibly gifted in the art of deception and yet still so very helpful, altruistic even. I am certain they really want me to "keep my home". What a wonderful company. What a great group of people.

My only hope is that someday each and every individual at chase, who has helped perpetuate this modification myth, will wake up to find that their conscience has kicked a hole in their head in an attempt to gain reentry.

Can anybody say class action lawsuit? Sign me up.

One year ago Chase gave me a modification. Needless to say, they did not tell me it was a temporary mod. Three months later my house payment went higher than bfore the modification. It took me a total of two months for someone to tell me that it was only temporary. I tried to tell them I could not afford it before the mod, what makes them think I can afford it after. I have had a hard time trying to get an attorney that I can not afford. Just today in the mail, I recieved my papers stating that the courts have approved the forclosure on my home. They take forever to respond to you but very little time foreclosing. Good Luck to all in dealing with Chase they have refuse all of my requests for a permenant loan modification. Got to go and start packing!!!

If you want to know what is actually going on in the loan modification and foreclosure business, spend an day at the federal bankruptcy court in your area. It is quite a shocker to listen to what is actaully going on.

I attended. In the space of 1 hour 79 people lost their homes based on attorney surrenders. Only two people fought and won the day.

The Trustee complained that she had seen no Loan Modifications or successful short sales. One attorney welcomed another to the
court of broken dreams.

My advice is to fight even if you have to do it yourself.

I would suggest you stay away from these people.
My experience with them cause me to rate them as predators.

You could lose your house as others have. Their main goal is to get $2500 to$5000 from you after that they do a little work and then refuse to communicate. If need more info send me an email.

I have a first & Heloc with Chase. I am past due with each. Today I contacted Hope Line and have scheduled a meeting. Has anyone had good results using 995Hope.org? OR do you have any other connections to work on an affordable loan program or mortgage modification

I just went through the three month trail with Chase Home Finance. I have signed document that said I would get my modification if I made all the payments on time. The day after I made the last payment, I was sent 4 certified letters from Chase saying I was in Acceleration to foreclose. This has been a two year battle with Chase. I wish I had the money for a Lawyer what a case I have. Two stacks of paper work I have files with OCC and the BBB.

It looks like Chase needs to do an audit of their customer service staff. Don't give up on a mortgage modification if your lender is not making the process as easy as you hoped. Keep calling and asking. You can also hired a mortgage modification specialist to help you make the contact and do the negotiating.

Hey Arthur! Congrats on the success story and for eventually being able to keep your home. I'm in the middle of a loan mod with Chase as well. Did you resume payments with the new loan + pay the outstanding amounts? Or did you simply resume payments based on the new rate once approved? Your help is appreciated.

Here is my SUCCESS story with Chase. I applied for a mod in December ‘07 and they lost my file. I had to do it again in January. Then, after two months and calling weekly it was “at the underwriters.” After two more months and weekly calling I was being put on a priority list because so much time went by. Finally, a week ago I was successful. I heard I had been approved and the people on the phone really couldn’t tell me what the terms were. Today I got a simple letter:

Your old rate of 8.69% (this was the arm it really started at 6.7% for 2 years) has been modified at the fixed rate of 5.375% for the balance of the loan.

HOLY CRAP!!! I can keep my house and actually got a GREAT rate to boot!

I hope everyone stays with it and can keep their homes.

FYI I was falling behind in my payments more and more over the course of this process. I never got 30 days behind, but I was close.

Thank you CHASE!!
