This email just came in my inbox and sometimes I am surprised that not everyone has heard of a loan modification or loan workout. Many homeowners think that a traditional mortgage refinance is the only way to help them out of their current dilemma.
The problem that you are going to have when you lost your job is going to be like with anything and anyone you now work with. The only thing on their mind is, “When is this person going to get a real job and when will I get my darn money!” Sad but true.
That being said, your ability to do anything with your mortgage will ride heavily on when you will have gainful employment. Unfortunately the employment landscape is looking rather ugly right now and jobless claims are rising by the second.
Making your ability to locate employment priority #1.
With no job, you can’t eat, drive, feed your kids or have shelter. I understand that most of us are multi taskers and that is exactly what you need to do when you are jobless. Searching for jobs, food, calling your utility companies for payment extensions, calling your lender etc will now be your daily life.
I have done it and I have got through it just fine. Being active, educating yourself and looking for solutions helped me find answers to my problems. It gave me strength and hope to know that I had back up plans in case plan a or b did not work out. (we all know this can happen)
Just don’t give up on hope and remember that getting a job or learning a new career field should be your top priority.
However, keep this in mind when you leave my blog, please understand that there is no way in the world that you will be able to refinance, get a loan modification or much of anything from your lender without employment. You can search high and dry till your blue in the face, it just isn’t going to happen and if someone says they can, then most likely it is a scam.

Getting your loan modified is a difficult task. It needs an expert to do and review all the documents. A lawyer can renegotiate the terms with your lender so that your monthly payments will be lowered to a maintainable level.
