Bank of America Desoer says homeowners part of the loan modification problem

Now, servicers face challenges in turning 500,000 trial modifications granted into permanent ones with steps including document collection, Desoer said. Borrowers’ responses are part of the problem, she said.

“I listen to these calls every week, and we’ve got somebody talking on the phone while they’ve got four kids in the background, because they’ve got their sister and her kids living with them now,” Desoer said. “People’s lives are in extreme stress.”

For these homeowners “finding my last three paystubs is a bigger challenge than” for individuals without the distress that leads them to seek modifications, she said.

“These are not households who have budgeted, who have shoeboxes filled with information waiting to fax us to get it done,” Desoer said.

I first applied for a loan modification on July 29 2009 at that time my mortage was with Taylor Bean. After 2 months I found out where my mortage was and had to reapply with Bank of America. I have am still waiting to hear something. On BOA website it is now telling me to call if I haven’t heard anything after 4/16/2010. What is taking so long?
