Man Fights Chase Mortgage After Wifes Death

Little said he mailed paperwork to JP Morgan Chase seeking a loan modification, but that the bank said he did not qualify. He will be three months behind on his payments in November.

Chase officials said they could not discuss Little’s case specifically because of privacy laws, but that the bank has sent him more papers to fill out.

Little said he hopes he qualifies for help this time around.

“I’d like to stay here. I just need a little help,” he said. “(If I’m rejected again) you can have the home. I’ll get out.”

All of these stories are so similar to mine. I was 2 months past due on my mortgage in September 2009. I applied for the modification and worked with a Cheryl from the USDA dept. on it sending docs and many many phone calls back and forth for about a month. I finally got a call from Cheryl at Chase in October 2009 saying I was approved for a modification everything went through and it was starting December 1. Until then I was not able to send any payments I was told because during the Modification application process it goes into temp. forebearance. I was given a new intrest rate and payment amount and all I needed to do was wait for my documents to come Fed-Ex within the next two weeks and have them signed and returned within 72 hours. I waited and called, waited and called, waited and called. Cheryl than gave me another number to call if my documents never arrived. She was all the sudden not in that department any longer. I called and called and called. I was told over and over that they would expedite my file and get back to me beings the underwriter was in charge of my docs and he was really busy and it was going to be handled right away. I called 1-3 times a week every week from November 2009 until March 2010. I obtained a counselor from the HOPE line and had a phone session with them and then did a conference call with my counselor to Chase. It was March 17, 2010 and this time I was told that I owed $11,000.00 and was facing foreclosure. They said there had been no mod in place and that they are really sorry but the underwriter didnt ever get the docs back so my modification had been denied back on Jan. 9, 2010. No one bothered to tell me, call me, send me anything in the mail. They needed me to re submit all the paperwork again I did and was denied and they said all i could do was a deed in Leiu. Again it was due to their error. I applied one last time on the phone with my HOPE councilor. It took 4 whole hours for them to get it right and do it without deceiving me or giving me the run around than get disconnected, and when it was time to set up the payment plans the man we worked with for all those hours said he needed to put me through to another department to finish up. Needless to say I resolved nothing and the department happened to be closed. I am currently looking for a attorney and filing complaints everywhere I am able to about Chase and their scams. This is why we have laws right? So how are they getting away with this to all these homeowners? Anyone out there hire an attorney and complete a modification the way its supposed to be done?
