My husband was a drywall taper. In 2007 his work was beginning to dwindle down. He was going from working 6 days a week to possibly 4 days a week. Then in early 2008, as his work fell even further, our mortgage loan adjusted up and raised our payments another $300 per month. Before we fell behind we too tried to get help from Aurora. We too were told they could not help until we were 3 months behind. So, foolishly, we too fell behind. At this point, we were lucky if my husband had 3 days of work per week. Everything came crashing down and we did what we had to to get by. Finally, in Oct my husband found a different, stable job with a steady income (at a 50% cut in pay) and we continued trying to work with Aurora to save our home. We did everything we were told. We even made "out of reach" payments for 3 months under a "forebarence agreement." Then, they RAISED our payment. We worked with our local CDA office as well as Housing Preservation lawyers in Minnesota. We also sent a letter to the US Treasury. They "looked into it." I received a copy of the letter that Aurora sent to the US Treasury. It explained how they "did workout a modification" for us. Yeah, right. If we can't afford the first payment that we are trying desperately to modify, how on this planet are we going to be able to afford the new modification that RAISES the payment by another $300 a month??? A few months ago I received a letter from the US Treasury saying they were satisfied that Aurora did all they could to help us. WHATEVER!! I am in on a classaction suit. We have to be out of our home in a month and I can't find anywhere to live. I have 3 kids. What am I supposed to do? These monsters get to steal my home, take advantage of a bad situation and we are left on the streets? They need to be taken down before they can hurt anyone else.
