Crowder Law Group – FTC Says They Acted Like the Feds to Dupe Homeowners

by Moe Bedard on November 25, 2009

Crowder Law Group and its co-defendants allegedly misrepresented themselves as a federal government agency or affiliate. Their personalized postcards to consumers stated, “You may qualify under the new government bailout to refinance your current mortgage . . . ” Some postcards described the defendants’ programs as federal programs and were signed by an attorney in the consumer’s state.

The defendants charged a $2,000 fee. The court immediately barred the practices and froze the defendants’ assets pending a hearing. Some of the defendants have stipulated to a preliminary injunction with an asset freeze.

The Commission vote to file the complaint was 4-0. The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

There are many organizations which defraud people seeking to discard debt, modify their loans or file bankruptcy. Jackson Crowder & Associates PA, Crowder Law Group, PA, both organized in FL, have presented themselves as a law firm qualified to operate from FL…………….THEY ARE NOT!!

Additionally, the sales people trick people promise anything just to get money from unsuspecting callers………..and represent themselves as legal assistants, paralegals, etc. when they are only supervised by a non-attorney sales person, Brent McDaniel,, and Tyna Caldwell (non-attorney) trains the employees (not paralegals) who imput data and keep money when the persons they are supposed to represent do not actually qualify for bankruptcy. THIS IS A SCAM……..!!

Jackson Crowder & Assciates PA organized in FL, aka Crowder Law Group, uses sales people to take money from unsuspecting people. The sales people promise them anything, and then take their money for bankruptcy (when many do not qualify), and promise loan modifications that they cannot achieve. The organization is run by a CA attorney, not licensed to practice in Florida where the operation is located.

If you have been ripped off, contact the CA Bar, to file a complaint, and the Attorney general in your State. It is possible that you can get your money back or at the very least make certain they do not pull this scam on another person. What they are doing might be prosecuted as a felony…….or fraud, by the State.

NOTE: The Commission files a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. A complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendants have actually violated the law. Stipulated court orders are for settlement purposes only and do not necessarily constitute an admission by the defendants of a law violation. Stipulated orders have the full force of law when signed by the judge.
