Fake mortgage broker gets 8 years for his loan crimes

An Ocala man who posed as a mortgage broker and submitted falsified loan documents to a now-fallen national mortgage home lender has been ordered to serve an eight-year prison sentence.

Hector L. Rivera, 53, was arrested in December 2008 on one count of racketeering, four counts of fraudulent use of personal identification information and one count of grand theft for a string of illegal transactions he conducted over a year and a half period.

Known as the “Magic Man” in Marion Oaks for his ability to secure mortgages, Rivera last month pleaded no contest to the racketeering count, while state prosecutors dropped the other counts.
