“All these scams are like viruses or bugs — they adapt and modify,” Baker said.
The FTC says the new scam is the offer of a home audit or lawsuit to get the lenders off your back.
Don’t fall for it, or you could end up like Butler. She’s worried about losing the home her husband built and the memories cemented in stone.
“You look at them and think someone else is going to be here not us and we worked so hard just trying to keep it,” Butler said.
