A former mortgage loan officer with Bank of America is facing charges that he funneled loan modification requests from the bank to his company and tried to collect illegal fees, according to Attorney General Martha Coakley.
Prosecutors allege that Christian Hayes of Danvers steered Bank of America customers to his newly formed company, Foreclosure Alternatives, where he demanded fees from distressed homeowners before assisting them with their troubled mortgages.
The complaint, filed in Suffolk Superior Court, alleges that Hayes sought to capitalize on the foreclosure crisis by targeting and preying upon Massachusetts residents facing loss of their homes
