A Valley woman says she though her loan modification was a done deal only to find out the bank had no idea why she was making lower payments.
Statement from Bank of America:
One of our home retention specialists has been working directly with Ms. Blackwell to explain the status of her trial modification. We apologize to her for the confusion over when and how much her monthly payment will be. Our review of Ms. Blackwell’s loan resulted in her receiving a more affordable payment. She is currently in the trial period and will be reviewed for a permanent modification.

I have had nothing but the run around from bank of america for almost a year now. I started working with them when our income was significantly reduced and we could not make our full payments. They put us on a reduced payment “trial period” then came back and verbally made a modification offer. Effectively reducing our monthly payments by $400. That was in October. We still have yet to receive the paper work or any other communication from them. We call them all the time looking for answers. All they tell is, “your loan is under review”. What a joke. Bank of America sucks at customer service and are total liars. They can give us no answers. I wish I knew who to contact with better business or somewhere/someone to file a complaint. They are a joke.
YES B OF A SUCKS . WE APPLIED IN OCT. 2009 AND ARE STILL DEALING WITH THEM. THEY SAY WE DIDNT MAIL THE RIGHT PAPERWORK AND THEY ARE WRONG OUR BANKER HELP US FILL THIS OUT AND COPY EVERYTHING THEY JUST DONT WANT TO HELP SO LET THEM TRY AND GET WHAT WE OWE ON OUR HOUSE I AM JUST GOING TO WALK AWAY…
I hear you the same thing is going on with me I to have gave them all the paper work and went through trial period and also been givin the ok verbally and then waiting for paper work to come and it never did. I called them 10 times and then they say its to late were saling your house. I have been here 12 years and never been late this is bullshit and who can you contact to overview this misleading crap? if you find out anything let me know. I am calling the news and then telling everyone about GMAC MORTGAGE
They are such liars and who can you go to if you dont get results
I too have been in a modifation limbo with B of A since October 2009…I sent back a signed and notorized Loan Modification Agreement in November…and have been making the reduced payments in the agreement …now June 7, 2010 I get a letter stating they are escalating forclosure proceedings and that all options were declined…I was told that once the returned notorized Modigication Agreement was received it was a DONE DEAL!!!…What can I do…B of A says they will get back to me in 48 hours ARGH!!!
Sorry guys. I don’t know what to tell you. I feared losing my house so I doubled up on the jobs and cut a bunch of other things out. I rented my house out and moved into a cheaper place. I then found a better job. I paid off the amount I was behind and I am now caught up. I just gave up on Bank of America following through. We all know that they suck at customer service, but I was not about to let them take my house and ruin my life and the life of my family. Walking away is not the answer. Find a way to pay off the back mortgage and keep your house. Don’t give up on yourself just because Bank of America did. Life has gotten so much better now that I am caught up. I am not yet back in my house, but I still have it. Right now someone else is living in it, but one day I will be back in it, when I can afford to make the full payments on my own. That is my goal. Keep your chin up! If I can do it, so can you. Don’t let anyone take what is yours! You bought it. You keep it. Don’t let Bank of America make your decisions. And yes this is the same Ryan. I hope you see this Nancy, Mike and Ray. And I hope it is not too late for you guys. I really do hope that. I wish there were a way for me to contact you and let you know that there is light at the other end of that really dark tunnel. Unfortunately, there is no one that can help you at Bank of America. At least I didn’t find anyone. I tried. Believe me. My wife and I tried. Call after call after call. And the only person there at that dead end was us. So we made the decisions that helped us keep our home. Yes we live in a less than desirable place right now. No, life isn’t all we had hoped it would be, right now. But it is so much better than when we owed Bank of America thousands in unpaid mortgage debt. I promise it does get better. Man, I hope it isn’t too late for you guys! Good luck guys! Ryan
