PHOENIX — A Phoenix woman who was a loan officer has been sentenced to two years in prison in a mortgage fraud scheme.
Federal prosecutors say 46-year-old April J. Lucero pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail, wire and bank fraud. She was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Phoenix.
Prosecutors say Lucero participated in a scheme involving the purchase of 37 properties using fraudulent loan documents and home loan straw buyers from 2005 to March 2007.
