TAMPA – Help has arrived for Hillsborough County residents facing foreclosure. The Residential Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation program (RMFM), designed by the Florida Supreme Court in December of 2009, officially goes into effect in Tampa courts on August 2nd.
The administrative order legally creating the program in Hillsborough County’s court system was signed by Chief Judge Manuel Menendez on July 19th, according to the Court Administration Office.
As FOX 13 reported in June , the Florida Supreme Court took action last year to stem the tide of foreclosure cases that were about to flood the court system statewide. A court-appointed task force set up a diversion and mediation program for homeowners about to begin a foreclosure suit that would allow them one last chance to save their homes.
