How it works? The government pays money to the banks, and the banks then lower homeowners’ mortgage payments.
Except, as CBS 6′s Dori Marlin found out – some say these programs aren’t helping their Bottom Line as much as they should be.
Melissa Dumas and her family were hopeful for any kind of help, when they applied for the government’s “Home Affordable Modification Program” in December. They had lived in their Rotterdam home for three years.
