State regulators and Clay County sheriff’s deputies executed search warrants Thursday, Sept. 2, at the offices two Clay County-based mortgage companies.
The state Office of Financial Regulation also issued cease and desist orders against Global Equity Solutions and Hope Financial Services, which are being investigated or conducting unlawful loan modification services using unlicensed companies and personnel, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
No charges have been filed against the owners or employees at Global Equity Solutions, 3332 Old Jennings Road in Middleburg and Hope Financial Services, 251 College Drive in Orange Park, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The companies marketed their services throughout the United States using the Internet, and investigators found mass mailing materials and a boiler-room-like telephone center at the sites.
