NEW YORK -(Source: MarketWatch By David Benoit) – Bank of America Corp. has already received 2,700 applications for help with home loans as part of a federal program for some of the economically worst hit states, most of which have only started programs in the past few months.The bank said it has begun working with home owners and state and federal authorities in all 18 states that qualified for the Treasury Department’s Hardest Hit Fund. The bank launched pilot programs in a few states in December, January and February, but the bulk have started since March.
It said it has already helped 700 borrowers with payments totaling $2.8 million, more than $1 million of which has come in May.
