Prosecutors can’t prove men committed a crime when they stripped a million-dollar home

A judge today ruled prosecutors can’t prove eight men committed a crime when they stripped a million-dollar Loxahatchee Groves home under foreclosure.

The ruling could well lead prosecutors to drop charges against the eight, unless new evidence comes to light.

6 Florida Men Arrested for Stripping Foreclosed Home

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Eight South Florida men who allegedly burglarized a million-dollar home in foreclosure didn’t leave much behind.
The major appliances were taken, of course, but the thieves even swiped toilets, cabinets, tiles and copper wire.

The men were arrested on charges of burglary, criminal mischief, grand larceny and possessing burglary tools.

FBI Addresses Homeowner Foreclosure Theft

The FBI- Foreclosure theft, as well as mortgage fraud, have become growing problems since the collapse of financial markets last year.
Newburg addressed a crowd of about 60 people, mostly real estate agents, at Tuesday’s presentation. The FBI’s Detroit office handles large-scale mortgage- and foreclosure-related complaints through a hot line.
